Where to Go to Satisfy a Sweet Tooth

Ever since my brother, Dean, came home from France for a Christmas break, the whole fambam have become a dessert-eating folk. After each hearty meal, he'd bring out either a bag of soft, chewy chocolate chips or a pack of sweet, heavenly Malteser. Then, he'd lay it on our dining table for every one to eat. It was hard to resist, I tell you, especially when we're all gathered together chatting and laughing at each other's silliness. The sad part was, my sugar cravings came back after months of being free from it.

Now, I crave for something sweet every after meal. So just this week, hubs and I went out to I.T. Park, just a block away from our village, and went to our ultimate favourite dessert shop, La Marea. I first discovered the shop five or six years ago when my other brother, David, took us out for dinner as a welcome home present after our mission. If I'm not mistaken, they had one shop operating back then and that was in Banawa. Now, there are four shops and two kiosks operating. Anyway, the whole point is it's the go-to place in Cebu if you want to satisfy your sugar cravings.

See this?

This is what I'm talking about. Sweet heavenly delight.
This is La Marea's store speciality: Warm Brownie Cup. Mmm-mmm.

But that night, we didn't order it. Instead, we bought another yummy dessert: silvanas!

Basically, it's a meringue cookie with buttercream filling.

The first time I ate one change my whole perception of desserts. Now, I crave it. But because there's no Sans Rivals (a pastry shop in Dumaguete City) here, I'd have to make do with what's available here.
Anyway, I'm not going to elaborate about its taste; instead, try it out for yourself. You won't regret it, I promise.

I tried making silvanas a couple of years ago, and it was epic fail. Baking is definitely not for me. If you want to make one yourself, maybe this recipe will help. As for the recipe for warm brownie cup, check out this post I wrote last year.

So was I satisfied from our late night food trip? Heck, yeah!
But then again, I'm trying to cut down on my sugar intake so it'll be a while before I can indulge with such pleasure again. Hehehe.

That's about it. Happy Weekend, guys!
