With the weather getting warmer now that summer is well on its way, one would probably wonder, Why the black dress on a hot afternoon? Well, even I would wonder. But you see, today is not just any other Sunday. Although Sundays for us, LDS, are always special, today was extra special because our ward was the host of the Stake's quarterly 'Music of the Spoken Word' (or MSW, which I just made up tonight) programme. I'm not sure if it's going to be a regular thing, though.
This explains why I had to pull out my little black dress from my long-forgotten box of unused clothes. It's a good thing I didn't throw it away because I've forgotten how much I loved this dress... and I think I love it more now that I've gained weight and no longer look the awkward, bone-thin girl I used to be several years ago. The dress now fits my tiny, 'healthy" frame perfectly.
Yes, it's actually an old dress that I got in early 2000. It's funny that wearing this dress reminded me of what Madonna wore in her music video, Frozen, despite having no resemblance at all. Not even a vague one. When I pulled it out this morning, the image of her in the middle of the desert singing and doing that hand thingy came to mind again. Weird.
Anyway, back to the MSW programme. It was a first for the ward doing something like, as it's really hard to gather choir singers to practice every Sunday for something other than singing in ward or stake conference. BUT we pulled it off and sang beautifully.
The programme's message focused mainly on the Plan of Salvation, with each song representing the stages of our existence in order to answer the questions: Where do we come from? Why are we here? And what must we do to go back to the presence of our Father in Heaven? What the organisers did, however, is they condensed the entire Plan into a 30-minute programme touching important factors with the aim to spiritually uplift the audience.
And it worked!
While the choir sang, I saw faces that were touched while some were teary eyed. At the end, lots of church members thanked us for the presentation. Many were enlightened and had felt the Spirit. Well, I'm really happy for the success. I'm sure the organisers would agree that it was a job well done. With only a short period of time to practice, we're able to "share and inspire" the gospel of Jesus Christ through songs.
So before I hit the sack and doze of dreamland, I'd like to give a shout out to the Apas Saints who joined the choir.

THANK YOU, GUYS!
You're amazing, all of you! Really! We should do this more often, you know? Oh, which reminds me, brace yourself because it ain't over yet. We'll still see each other next week to start our choir practice for our upcoming ward conference. Love and Dallin, are you up for it?
